Addressing Behavioural Issues
If your adult dog, who has always been well-behaved and settled, suddenly develops behavioural problems, the first step is to visit your vet. The issue may be medical, and some pet insurances cover the costs of adult behavioural problems. Once the vet determines there are no underlying medical conditions, they may recommend a dog behaviourist, and our costs could be covered by your insurance.
Our Process
- Initial Consultation: We invite you to visit us at our daycare centre, where we can meet your furry friend. This helps us understand the issues you’re facing. During a one-hour consultation, we explain how dogs react to different situations and identify where the problems might lie using gentle, positive methods.
- Home Visit: If needed, we can visit you at your home to suggest specific changes based on the problems you’re experiencing. We work with you to enable your dog to live in harmony with your family, the public, and other dogs.
Quick Results
Often, a change in behaviour can be achieved after just one hour’s consultation. Our methods are designed to be effective and positive, ensuring the best outcomes for you and your dog.

Our dog training methods are based on the latest research in animal behaviour and psychology. We use positive reinforcement which is proven to be the most effective for long term results. Our training council sets high standards for best practice in dog training so our trainers are up to date in their knowledge.
Group Classes and Socialisation
As well as one on one consultations we offer socialisation classes for puppies and adult dogs. These classes are a safe space for dogs to interact with other dogs, to promote healthy social animal behaviour and to help with issues like aggression or fear. Socialisation is a key part of a dog’s development and will lead to a more balanced and confident companion and a happier home for you and your pet.

Our support doesn’t stop after the consultation. We provide ongoing support and resources so you feel confident in your training. Our team of behaviourists are always here to help you with any behaviour issues that may arise.
Dog Behaviour
Understanding your dog is key to the bond and behaviour issues. From sit and stay to separation anxiety, understanding canine psychology and physiology will help you get to the root of the behaviour. This will mean more effective and kind training so your dog feels seen and heard and looked after and that’s good for your dog.
Dog Behaviourist
A dog behaviourist is a professional who specialises in understanding and changing problem behaviours in dogs. They are trained to assess and diagnose issues like aggression, fear, anxiety and destructive behaviour. Using positive reinforcement, desensitisation and behaviour therapy they will turn unwanted behaviour into wanted behaviour. They often work with vets to rule out any underlying medical conditions that may be contributing to the behaviour problems. With their expertise dog behaviourists will provide you with a bespoke solution that is good for your dog and you.
Positive Reinforcement Dog Training
Positive reinforcement dog training is kind and works by rewarding the behaviours you want to see more of. This uses treats, praise and play as rewards, so good behaviour becomes associated with good behaviour. Unlike punishment, positive reinforcement builds a trust and strong bond between you and your dog. By rewarding your dog for what you want to see more of, you can shape their behaviour gently and humanely. This training will give you a well behaved dog and a better relationship with your fur baby.
Common Dog Behaviour Issues
Dogs can exhibit many behaviour issues that can be hard to manage. Separation anxiety is a common one where dogs get distressed when left alone and can be destructive. Fear based behaviours such as fear of loud noises or strangers can be stressful for the dog and the owner. Aggression towards people or other animals is a serious issue that needs professional help. Destructive behaviours like barking, chewing or digging can be frustrating but are often manageable with the right training. Sorting out these behaviour issues with positive reinforcement and professional guidance will give you a happier and more balanced dog.
Confidence and Calm Behaviour
Your dog’s confidence and calm behaviour is key to their overall happiness and well being. Confident and calm dogs are less likely to exhibit anxiety, fear or other problem behaviours. Positive reinforcement, desensitisation and counterconditioning can help your dog feel safe and secure. A stable and predictable environment with clear boundaries and consistent training will support your dog’s emotional health. By building your dog’s confidence and calm behaviour you can help your dog live a more relaxed and happy life and strengthen the bond between you and your pet.
Our Dog Trainers and Behaviourists
With an animal behaviour focus we understand that every dog is different and their challenges can be very different depending on temperament, environment and past experiences.
Our dog trainers are up to date with the latest training techniques and behavioural science so your dog will get the best guidance possible. They work with you to create a bespoke training plan that addresses the immediate issues but also long term positive behaviour change.
Our behaviourist will play a key role in identifying and diagnosing complex behaviour issues. Through behaviour therapy they will provide targeted interventions to help your dog overcome aggression, anxiety and other problem behaviours. This collaborative approach means all aspects of your dog’s behaviour will be considered for a rounded and effective training experience.
Together our team of behaviourists will help you and your furry friend overcome any obstacles and strengthen the bond between you and have a happier healthier life for your dog.
Dog behaviour FAQs.
How do I stop my dog from jumping up on people?
Firstly, we teach our dogs to jump up when they are tiny pups. We pick them up bring them close to our faces, cuddling them in our arms. Then when the start to grow we push them down with our hands telling them to “get down”.
Touch is the first thing a new born puppy learns from it’s Mother. It cannot see, smell or hear anything, so the touch from it’s Mother, cleaning it and bringing it close to feed, is rewarding as well as comforting. Through pushing the dog down with our hands is telling them that this is OK and acceptable.
When a pup is tiny, go down to the floor to fuss him and if you have to pick them up to put them in the garden for a pee etc, try not to cuddle but hold the pup away from you.
If the dog is now an adult try not to raise your arms and try not to step backwards but walk forward, so the dog is forced backwards. They will soon stop jumping up. If this doesn’t work, contact me and we can try something else.
How do I stop my dog barking when I let him out into the garden?
Don’t just open the door and let him out. Make him sit and wait for you to go out first and then invite him to join you. Try putting him on a lead and walk him around the garden with him. This will help keep him calm. It is advisable to always go through any door, gate etc first and not to allow a dog to rush out in front on you.
